Merely Shakespeare is returning with a one-night only performance of Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe Space, Theatre N16, Balham on Sunday, 21st August.
In 2014, Merely Theatre created a successful and exciting season of stripped back Shakespeare in the round at The Cockpit Theatre.
To produce these shows, the company worked two days a week for a month, before performing the shows on the Sunday night, after just eight rehearsals. This work helped to define Merely’s style, and will return in 2016 for a special production at Theatre N16.
During their UK tour, N16 in Balham played host to the London run of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Henry V in the studio space upstairs.
The Globe Space at The Bedford Pub, where Theatre N16 calls home, is hugely popular as a venue for both music and comedy, but has seen precious few theatre productions over the years. The team at Theatre N16 aim to change that.
Merely Theatre’s Much Ado will be a full cast production, with no costume or set, and minimal props.
Artistic Director Scott Ellis said, “The Globe Theatre at The Bedford is the perfect space to host this production, and is a hidden gem of South West London. We are excited to further develop our relationship with Theatre N16, who are doing great work in developing the fringe.”
